Lush green alpine carpets, alpine flowers up to 3,000 m – a height record for Mother Nature, a gift of creation possible due to a mild Mediterranean climate. The Hochpustertal region is dominated by the peaks of the Carnic Alps, the Dolomites and the Villgraten mountains. The ‘Karnischer Höhenweg’, the ‘Gailtaler Höhenweg’ and the ‘Pustertaler Almweg’ high-altitude paths are highlights for several day hiking ventures. The Golzentipp (Obertilliach) and Thurntaler (Sillian) cable cars take you leisurely to an altitude of 2,000 m.

Mountains for mites

The alpine paradise valley of Villgratental with the Oberstall alpine pastures – a symbol for the keeping up of traditions in the region. Along the Pustertaler Höhenstraße mountain road you’ll come across the idyllic villages of Anras and Assling, with the castle of Anras, a cultural highlight. Many hiking paths to the romantic Kristeinertal or Willferntal valleys begin here. So that your mountain experiences become really unforgettable, the region has an electronic tour book on offer.
