Filzmoos is one of the most beautiful mountain villages in the Alps. The name originates from the moss that once covered the area. The Gosaukamm range with its distinctive peak, Bischofsmütze (2,458 m), belongs to the Dachstein massif. The southern and western districts of the village belong to the Salzburger Schieferalpen (slate alps). Many aspects of beliefs, culture & hospitality have been kept from earlier times. The “Filzmooser Kindl”, their miraculous icon, watches over the area.

Truly being on foot

Slowness has its own beauty. Nature can only be discovered properly if you go about it leisurely. On guided mountain tours, everyday life stays in the valley. Silent, with closed eyes and barefoot: an intensive experience. Smell the herbs, feel the tree bark, needles and branches. How different water tastes! Listen to tales, try out regional delicacies at mountain huts. You’ll return fulfilled and relaxed.
