The region belongs to the original landscape of Austria. Crystal clear water, green pastures, fresh mountain air – here the world is still intact. From Matrei you can reach the European Panorama Trail effortlessly by cable car. An ideal family hiking path with views of grand mountains. The ‘path of senses’ in Virgen is suitable for the blind, and enables everyone to ‘feel’ nature with all the senses. The adventure hike to the impressive Umbal waterfalls starts in Prägraten am Großvenediger. The picturesque village of Kals am Großglockner rests at 1,325 m – a popular starting point for Austria’s highest mountain.
