North of the Dachstein range, the magnificent vantage points of Gamsfeld (2,024 m), Bodenberg and Hornspitz rise above the alpine massif. From the picturesque mountain village of Rußbach the gentle ringing of cow bells leads us on beautiful hiking paths to traditional mountain huts where we are awaited by tasty delicacies. The Hornbahn cable cars offer everybody an effortless ascent to the world of mountains. To relax, a visit to the Rußbach water park is on the programme in the afternoon – with swimming and Kneipp therapies.

Hiking, fun and relaxation in the Valley of Fossils

Clear streams accompany us along the hikes and sometimes wash up oceanic pieces from the Cretaceous period, 100 million years ago: snail shells, shells, coral. Every week Norbert guides us on a ‘treasure trail’ to the snail rockface or we follow Kathi to the ‘Jungbrunnenweg’ (fountain of youth trail). The next day we can look forward to a great hike to the striking peaks of the Gosaukamm or a 2-day hike to the Hoher Dachstein.
