Waldviertel
Mystical. Meditative. Powerful.
The Waldviertel is a rugged area. It is the granite district between Wachau and Budweis. Austria’s northernmost region extends from the Danube valley through the Yspertal and Weitental valleys, the Weinsbergerwald forest and the Kamptal and Thayatal valleys as far as the Nordwald, Austria’s largest tract of forest. The vastness runs through marsh areas, clean ponds, deeply cut river valleys and hill ranges. The Waldviertel is variety in the north. Therefore – where we are, the sky’s the limit! What makes the Waldviertel so unique? It’s the great combination of the clear, fresh north and the sunny south! There are countless possibilities for discovering the almost untouched countryside in a sensuous way on foot and, in doing so, learning a lot of interesting information about the region and its people.
