Wanderregion Mostviertel Alpin
Discoverers & mountain adventurers
Many visitors are surprised at how mountainous the Mostviertel is. The alpine Mostviertel has very "wild" sides: Ötscher, Dürrenstein, Hochkar, Gippel and Göller are almost 2,000 metres high and are particularly impressive. For thousands of years, water has shaped nature in the Mostviertler Kalkalpen (limestone mountains); it has carved gorges, ravines and caves into the stone and left bizarre formations. Thanks to some forward-thinking people, the Mostviertel mountains with their primeval forests and upland moors are now protected within the scope of 3 nature parks.
