The three municipalities of St. Jakob, St. Veit and Hopfgarten together make up the holiday region of the Defereggental valley, which covers an area of 140 km² in the Hohe Tauern National Park. Climatically favourable thanks to its Mediterranean influence, the valley is a true climatic oasis for body and mind and is particularly suitable for people suffering from allergies or asthma. Far away from mass tourism, a holiday destination developed here where we consistently and sustainably protect what today counts as unique capital: an intact, incomparable natural landscape. More than fifty 3,000 m high mountains as well as numerous hiking and walking paths invite you to stop and take a rest. Breathe deeply and enjoy the clean, crystal-clear air in the Defereggental valley in complete seclusion and peace.
