Between crystal-clear mountain lakes, blooming alpine pastures and roaring waterfalls, friends of the National Park will encounter one of the most beautiful landscapes in Europe. In the midst of this enchanting natural variety there are 19 picturesque villages that will provide for unforgettable holidays. 266 mountain peaks higher than 3,000 m, 342 glaciers, almost 1,000 mountain lakes and rich fauna and flora are only a few of the highlights of the holiday region of the Hohe Tauern National Park. The National Park Centre in Mittersill with the ‘Nationalparkwelten’ experience centre unites these highlights under one roof and is a great all-weather destination.
